'Anti-autocracy student movement day' observes today

Various political and social organisations have taken an elaborate programme to observe 'anti-autocracy student movement day' today (Sunday), reports UNB.
In a joint statement, president of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Fakhruddin Kabir and General Secretary Jonardan Datta Nantu said a large number of students gathered at Battala of Dhaka University (DU) February 14 and brought out a procession demanding cancellation of education policy of Mazid Khan, withdrawal of marital law and introduction of secular education.
On the day, they said police opened fire on the procession and killed many other students, including Jafar, Joynal and Dipali Saha and injured hundreds of students.
The leaders urged people, including the students, to observe the day.
Madhaya February '83 Smriti Sangrakhan Parishad will place wreaths at Shikhkha O Gonatantra Memorial in front of Karzan Hall and Education Bhaban to pay respect to the memories of martyred students.
