Anti-kidnapping squad

Monday, 5 May 2014

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police has formed a 40-member anti-kidnapping squad. It is good news but we see nothing happens unless order comes from the top level in our country. Police don't show any alacrity to rescue the abducted victims. If the victim is a popular leader and if the common people come out in protest, then only we see some activity from the law enforcing agency. It seems that the lives of the common people have no value and the helpless cry of their near and dear ones falls on deaf ears.
In our country, the criminals remain at large and even the police know them very well. But they remain tight-lipped as the criminals are blessed by influential party leaders. They also pay money to unscrupulous law enforcers. Every political party must stop sponsoring criminals. A tree is known by the quality of its fruit and I hope the new anti-kidnapping squad will make a difference.
