Apex Holdings chairman Zafar Ahmed dies

Founding chairman of Apex Holdings Limited Zafar Ahmed passed away at a hospital in Dubai on Sunday last at the age of 73.
He left behind his wife, a son, two grandsons and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Mr Ahmed was also the chairman of Apex Foods Limited, Apex Spinning & Knitting Mills Limited, Apex Lingerie Limited, Apex Yarn Dyeing Limited, Apex Textile Printing Mills Limited, Apex Fashion Wear Limited and Matex Bangladesh Limited.
Kamrul Islam, secretary of Apex Foods Limited, said Mr Ahmed fell critically ill after a brain hemorrhage on the night of December 31, 2021 and was immediately rushed to the city's United Hospital where he underwent a surgery. As his condition kept deteriorating, his family took him to a hospital in Dubai where he breathed his last at about 2:50pm on Sunday.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Gulshan Azad Mosque after Zohr prayers today (Wednesday) and he will be buried at Banani graveyard.
Mr Ahmed, a post-graduate from Dhaka University in economics, was born in Gaibandha in 1949.
Apex Holdings Limited, which has over 15 business concerns, including six export-oriented and two listed companies, employs more than 22,000 people.
