A mobile court fined an apparel factory in the city Tk 50,000 for not having adequate fire safety equipment in the garments unit.
The firefighters-run mobile team led by magistrate Abul Bashar visited 'Design and Source' at Karwanbazar in the afternoon and fined the factory management Tk 50,000 after seeing the insufficient equipment.
"We penalised the garment factory as they don't have minimum fire safety measures," Deputy Director of Fire Brigade of Dhaka Division Abdur Rashid told the FE.
He said they have decided to raid apparel units as well as some high-rise buildings in the capital to check whether enough fire prevention measures are present or not.
