Apparel Summit begins Dec 7

The three-day Dhaka Apparel Summit will start on December 7 aiming to frame a sustainable roadmap in achieving the $50 billion RMG export target by 2021.
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) in association with Bangladesh Brand Forum are jointly organinzing the Summit titled "Bangladesh RMG 2021:$50 billion on 50th Anniversary of Bangladesh" at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the event, first of its kind, while leading apparel buyers, brands, donor agencies, academics, representatives from Accord and Alliance will also participate.
"The Summit is organized with the objective of opening and furthering such dialogue to frame a sustainable roadmap on building responsible supply chains in the textiles and garment sector," Md Atiqul Islam, president of BGMEA said at a press conference held at its headquarters in the city.
It will also help the industry people to identify the challenges and their way forwards towards the $50 billion export target by 2021, he said adding ""We are trying to come out from the negative image what exists at the global stage now. That is why we are inviting all stakeholders to interact."
