Appeal to extend time limit for submission of income tax return

CHITTAGONG, Oct 23: Chittagong Tax Lawyers Association (CTLA) General Secretary Mohammad Musa appealed to the finance adviser of the caretaker government and the chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to extend the time limit for submission of income tax return for the 2007-08 fiscal upto November 30 next.
Mentioning the grounds which include celebration of holy Eid-ul-Fitr and Durgapuza, adverse effect of the flood, tornado and heavy downpour and subsequent extensive damages caused to shops and establishments, residential areas and industrial zones based in Chittagong, Mohammad Musa said, it would really be difficult on the part of the tax payers to submit their income tax returns by October 31 next.
