Appellate Division to hear Khaleda's petition today
Wednesday, 10 November 2010
The regular bench of the Appellate division will hear today an application by BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia seeking a stay on the operation of the High Court ruling that had declared valid the government notice asking to vacate her Dhaka Cantonment house, reports UNB.
After hearing both sides, chamber judge M Muzammel Hossain, posting the petition to the appellate bench, fixed the date of hearing.
Khaleda, also leader of the opposition in parliament, filed the stay petition as she preferred leave to appeal against the High Court ruling.
On October 13, the High Court discharged Khaleda's writ petition and declared valid the house-vacating notice. It, however, ordered the government to allow the former premier 30 days to vacate the house.
