Technology enthusiasts from Bangladesh may have to wait until June this year before their dream Apple iPads start to hit the local computer outlets, in spite of many customers reportedly placing online orders by now for purchasing the highly coveted item.
The much-frenzied tablet computer developed by US hi tech giant Apple Inc is expected to have its Asian debut in the middle of May this year following its grand unveiling in the US market earlier this month.
However, according to the distributors and resellers of Apple in Bangladesh, it may take another two to six weeks following the highly anticipated Asian debut that these tiny computers start to be shipped to the local Apple outlets.
"Usually, it takes some 40 days for a certain Apple product to hit Bangladeshi market after it debuts in the Asian region, said Badruddoza Roman, Product Manager for Apple in Computer Source, which is the authorised distributor of Apple brand in the Bangladeshi market.
"Starting at US$ 499.00, prices of iPad ranges in the US market are apparently far lower than other Apple computer ranges", Roman said.
"Although the actual price at the end of the day could be much higher than that in the local market after taking into account the VAT and other taxes, we are still expecting it to be a good bargain for the local customers," he added.
