Archaeological sites in Bogra getting a face-lift

A Correspondent BOGRA, Nov 28: Out of all old civilizations, South-East Asian civilization is a remarkable one. An agro-based culture flourshed here about 3,000 years back. Mohasthangarh bears such an example of that civilization. The memories of Pala, Sen, Mourya, Gupta, Maughal dynasty are stored in the heart of an old city Pundra. It is bears a glorious and traditional cultural identity of Bengal situated 12 km away from Bogra town. To attract the attention of the tourists, no government so far took enough initiatives to improve the condition of Mohasthangarh. But few days back, an ADB project of Tk 57 crore has been sanctioned for Mohasthan, Somapura Mohavihara, Kantaji Temple of northern part of Bangladesh. Regional director of Archaeology department, Md. Badrul Alam said this money will be spent to make these sites more attractive to the visitors. Hotels, motels, parking zone and some other infrastructures will be constructed in the next fiscal year so that the tourists can have access to food, shelter, communication with modern facilities. Tourists who came to Bangladesh between 2005 and 2010 fiscal years chose the northern parts of Bangladesh as attractive visit sites. To build Mohasthangarh as a special tourist zone, the Parjaton Corporation has already arranged a seminar in 2009 wherein the speakers but emphasis on making it as a tourist zone.
