Ariful ton guides Azad to win

Ariful Islam's unbeaten 115 runs guided Azad Sporting Club to a 9-wicket victory against Eskaton Sabuj Sangha in a match of the Dhaka Metropolis First Division Cricket League at BKSP-4 in Savar Friday, reports UNB.
In the day's match, chasing 185 for win, Azad SC reached their target losing one wicket in 42.4 overs, riding on a second wicket stand of 140 runs in 31.1 overs, contributed by Ariful Islam and skipper Mehedi Hasan.
Arif made an unbeaten century scoring 115 runs off 136 balls with 15 fours and two sixes.
Mehedi scored not out 45 runs off 92 balls with seven fours while opener Sadikur Rahman made 17 runs.
Ashraful Hossain Babu took the lone wicket for 31 runs in seven overs. Earlier, sent into bat first, Eskaton SS were all out for 184 runs in 49.4 overs.
Zawad Mohammed Royen scored team highest 66 runs off 85 balls with eight fours and a six.
Ali Hossain Dablu scored 42 runs off 47 runs with four fours and two sixes while Fazle Rabbi (28) and Nadim Sheikh (23) were the other double digit scorers.
Masud Parvez grabbed four wickets for 22 runs in 6.4 overs while Moin Khan and Sumon-Ur-Rahman took two wickets each for 31 and 38 runs respectively in 10 and 9 overs.
In the day's other match, despite Saif making an unbeaten century of 105 runs, Indira Road Krira Chakra lost to Dhaka Wanderers Club by 6 wickets at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.
Batting first after winning the toss, Indira Road KC scored 279 runs for 4 in stipulated 50 overs, with Saif contributing 105 runs off 148 balls with nine fours and a six.
Skipper Maruf Reza Sunny smashed unbeaten half-century scoring 62 runs off 39 balls with five fours and three sixes while number five Papai Siqdar made another half-century scoring 59 runs off 79 balls with six fours.
Sheikh Rezwan Kabir Siddique took two wickets for 43 runs in seven overs while Mehedi Arafat and Foysal Bin Mostak took one wicket each for 43 and 58 runs respectively, both bowled 9 overs.
Chasing 280 for win, Dhaka Wanderers Club reached their target scoring 283 runs for 4 wickets in 42.3 overs, with skipper Shahed Adnan contributing team highest 72 runs off 59 balls that featured 10 fours and two sixes.
Besides, Sheikh Rezwan Kabir Siddique scored 53 runs off 38 balls with seven fours and two sixes while Rayhan Anas (not out 47), Mehedi Hasan Anik (44), Mufti Amin (37) and opener Shaon Rahman (24) were the other notable scorers Dhaka Wanderers.
Papai Siqdar grabbed 3 wickets for 39 runs in 8 overs while Atikur Rahman took one wicket for 57 runs in 7 overs.
