Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali on Sunday said that the government has a vision for shaping the Armed Forces as modern, competent and professional forces to help them perform better. ‘Already the government has taken several pragmatic steps for the development of Armed Forces; their armaments, training and capacity building and also for the welfare of the members of the Armed Forces,’ he said, addressing the passing-out dinner at the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA). The Foreign Minister said Bangladesh Army is recognised worldwide as a disciplined force for its notable contribution in UN Peace Keeping Mission and other assignments. ‘Our supreme sacrifices in the UN missions have only emboldened us to remain committed to the UN cause,’ he said. Mahmood Ali said Army has also earned recognition for its role in responding to various national calamities such as during cyclone Sidor and Rana Plaza rescue operation, according to UNB.
