Armed miscreants ransack remote hill village

RANGAMATI, Jan 6 (BSS): A band of armed miscreants raided remote hilly village Kushumchhari under Zurachhari Upazila of the district Tuesday, and wounded three villagers, looted away mobile sets from 13 families and demanded a toll of Tk. 300,000.
Police said that the miscreants threatened the villagers to torch it if they fail to pay the toll immediately. The attackers told the villagers that they would set free Biru Chakma, member of Zurachhari Sadar Union Council, on receiving payment of the toll. Biru was kidnapped by the miscreants Monday.
The officer-in-charge of Zurachhari police station Mohammad Rafique said that they had heard about the attack, but the police are yet to be provided with details of the incident.
