Armed muggers snatch Tk 0.25m from company employee in city

Armed muggers took away Tk 0.25 million from an accountant of a private company after injuring him at Malibagh Chowdhurypara in the city Tuesday, police said.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rampura police station told the FE that four muggers intercepted Saiful Islam, an accountant of Sanowara Group, in an area behind the Chowdhurypara Ansar Camp at about 11:00am while he along with one of his colleagues Nazimuddin was returning to their office after drawing Tk 0.25 million from a branch of NCC bank in the city.
He said the gang demanded a bag, which was loaded with the money, from Saiful and shot at him on left leg and snatched the bag and left the place safely.
The bullet-hit accountant was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment. The OC said they were yet to confirm whether it was a real mugging incident or staged as both the employees went to the bank on foot without taking the help of the company's own security force during the money transaction.
