Armed PCJSS men abduct 5 UPDF supporters in CHT

RANGAMATI, Dec-19:- Five members of a political front opposing the CHT peace treaty were allegedly abducted by their rivals from the remote Shalbagan village under Jurachhari upazila of the district this morning.
The abducted were identified as Sapta Chakma (70), Sumati Bikash Chakma (350, Uzzal Chakma (22), Aurun Tungchyanga (25) and Bimol Chakma (30) of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF).
Sources said pro-peace armed members belonging to Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) raided the village in the early morning and picked up the five villagers at gunpoint. They took them deep inside the forest.
Jurachhari upazila unit president of UPDF Moha Ranjan Chakma blamed the PCJSS for the kidnapping.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jurachari police station Nurul Islam confirmed the incident over phone. He said the police are trying to rescue them.
No one was arrested in this connection.
