Arms trader held in Bogra

Police arrested an alleged illegal firearms dealer from an intercity train in Bogra district on Tuesday. The arrested was identified as Ariful Islam, 25, son of Haidar Ali of Nababganj upazila of Dinajpur district. Acting on secret information, a team of Government Railway Police (GRP) of Shantahar in Bogra held Arif from a compartment of the Dhaka-bound “Nil Sagor” train and recovered a foreign-made pistol, two magazines and 10 rounds of bullet from him. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shantahar GRP Shariful Islam claimed that Arif is an illegal arms trader. He was going to Dhaka from Nilphamari district by the train when police conducted a search and arrested him with a firearms and ammunitions. A case was filed, he added, according to UNB.
