Army almost ensures reaching semis

Bangladesh Army almost ensured reaching the semi-final of the Office Hockey League as they came from behind to beat Firoz Land Properties by 4-1 goals at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium here Thursday, reports UNB.
National player Mamunur Rahman Chayan put Firoz Properties ahead in the 5th minute from a penalty corner (1-0) while Didar Hossain Chowdhury restored parity for the Army in the very next minute by a field goal (1-1) to end first half 1-1.
Abdus Salam Dewan, Sanwar Hossain and Abu Sayeed Alo scored three more goals for the Army team in the second half -- 41st, 45th and 62nd minutes respectively, the first from penalty stroke while the other two were field goals (4-1).
Bangladesh Army will play their remaining Group A match against Bangladesh Air Force tomorrow (Saturday).
In the day's other match, Bangladesh Air Force tasted the first victory in their second group match beating all-losers Afsar Limited by 2-1 goals at the same venue in the afternoon.
The match was locked 1-1 during the first half.
Today's (Friday's) matches: Bangladesh Navy vs Sonali Bank SRC (1:15 pm), Araf Apparels vs Rising Group (3 pm).
