Army chief apprises President of his China visit

Chief of Army Staff General M Abdul Mubeen Thursday apprised President M Zillur Rahman about the outcome of his recent visit to China, reports BSS. The Bangladesh Army Chief visited China from September 15 to 20. During the meeting, the Army Chief apprised the President of his meeting with Minister for National Defence of China, Deputy Chief of General Staff of China National People's Liberation Army (PLA) and President of National Defence University of China. The Army Chief informed that he discussed various issues related to mutual interest and bilateral cooperation between the armed forces of Bangladesh and China. General Mubeen also apprised the President of various recent and upcoming visits of high officials of neighbouring countries' armed forces here. The army chief informed the progress of implementation of ongoing development programmes of Bangladesh Army. He also informed that he would be in Saudi Arabia from October 30 to November 12 for performing the Hajj. The Army Chief sought cooperation of the President, who is also the Supreme Commander of Defence services, for the ongoing development of Bangladesh Army. The President gave him a patient hearing and expressed his satisfaction over the role of army chief in the development of his force. President Rahman assured gen Mubeen of his cooperation in the endeavour for modernization of Bangladesh Army. Secretaries of the President's Office were present.
