Army clinch Nat'l Basketball title

Bangladesh Army clinched the title of the Citycell 25th National Basketball Championship beating Bangladesh Navy by 72-65 points in the keenly contested final at Dhanmondi Wooden Floor Gymnasium in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.
The winners were off to a runaway 39-31 lead at the breather.
National color Mithun caged 24 points while Amanath supported him with 22 points for Bangladesh Army. Mithun and Rashed contributed 29 and 22 points for Bangladesh Navy.
In the place-deciding match, Border Guard Bangladesh retained the third slot beating Khulna by 57-54 points at the same venue.
In the keenly contested match, the winners led the first half by 27-26 points.
Abul Kalam Azad, Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs, was the chief guest in the final and distributed the prizes after the match.
Besides, Pacific Telecom Bangladesh Limited (Citycell) chief operating officer David Lee was present there as special guest.
Basketball Federation president Dr. Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, MP, Taslim Ahmed, head of corporate communications & public relations of Citycell were also present, among others, on the occasion.
