Army deployment for polls duty from Dec 24

Election Commissioner M Sohul Hussain said Saturday army would be deployed across the country from December 24 to ensure security ahead of the 9th parliamentary election slated for December 29. "Army will remain deployed until December 31, two days after the election," he told reporters at his office. The election commissioner said the law-enforcing agencies along with RAB, police, BDR and Ansar would continue their duty as striking forces outside polling centres. — UNB
