Army-led joint drives: 271 people arrested nationwide

Coordinating with different law-enforcement agencies, the Bangladesh Army detained a total of 271 people across Bangladesh between June 5 and June 12 over various reasons.
Teenage gang members, dealers of narcotics, addicts, smugglers, extortionists, individuals who carried illegal arms, and listed terrorists are among the arrestees, according to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations, the public relations division of the Bangladesh Armed Forces.
The joint operations seized 91 rounds of different ammunitions, cartridges of 18 shot guns, 15 firearms obtained illegally, 38 crude bombs, various drugs, 21 empty cartridges, locally made weapons, motorbikes, and mobile phones.
The ISPR statement said that all of the arrestees have been handed over to local police stations.
The army has been continuing their regular patrol and security operations in different parts of the country to ensure law and order, according to the ISPR statement.
To ease the hassle of of holiday travel and prevent the black marketing of tickets, the army has been operating special patrols.
Army patrol teams have been facilitating discussions between factory owners and workers in industrial zones, ensuring timely payment of salaries and other bonuses ahead of the Eid.
During the Eid, the army also monitored temporary cattle markets across the country to ensure law and order, the ISPR said.
