Army to be deployed today in 81 UZs ahead of polls

Army will be deployed in 81 upazilas from today (Thursday) to ensure security during the upazila polls there, schedule to be held Saturday, reports BSS.
The army will be deployed for total five days - two days ahead of the polls, on the polls day and two days after the polls, senior officials of the Election Commission (EC) said Wednesday. The army personnel will act as a striking force along with the regular law enforcing agencies to prevent any kind of violence centering the polls, they said.
One platoon of army comprising 34 members will be deployed in each of the 81 upazilas, the added.
