Arrest warrant against editor, publisher, reporter of Prothom Alo

RAJSHAHI, Sept 17 (UNB): Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court here Monday issued warrant of arrest against the editor, publisher and a reporter of the Daily Prothom Alo for ignoring the summon to appear in a defamation suit.
Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor Mizanur Rahman Minu, now in custody on charge of extortion and graft, filed the case on January 30 for publication of a report in the daily that described him as 'godfather' of Islamic militants.
The daily further reported that the RCC mayor had extended financial and moral support to Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) leader Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai in carrying out the militant activities in the district during 2004.
Bangla Bhai has already been executed.
Mizanur Rahman Minu had claimed that the report was false and intended to undermine his political image.
