CHITTAGONG, Dec 04: A Chittagong court Thursday issued warrant of arrest against BNP lawmaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury in a sedition case filed by a businessman in Chittagong.
The chief judicial magistrate Akhtar Hussain passed the order after hearing the case filed by Md Abu Taher Uddin, son of Momtaz Uddin of Badurtala Jangi Shah Mazar Lane in the city.
The plaintiff, in his complaint, accused SQ Chowdhury of making controversial remarks as chief guest at Fatikchari BNP's biennial council at a community centre in Fatikchari Bibirhat area on November 20 against the murder of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Supreme Court verdict in the case.
He quoted SQ Chowdhury as saying in his speech that the people's voting right could not have been restored if the August 15 incident had not taken place, and the nation did not accept the court verdict.
Advocate Asoke Kumar Das, additional metropolitan PP and lawyer of the plaintiff said, the case has been filed under 124(A)/505 of the CrPC.
