Arrest warrant against upazila chairman in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, July 10 (UNB): A Chattogram court has issued arrest warrants against Chandanaish Upazila Chairman Jasim Uddin and his wife Tanzina Sultana for pay order fraud and failing to repay a loan of Tk 1.15 billion.
Chattogram's Artha Rin Adalat Judge Mujahidur Rahman issued the arrest warrant, court's Bench Assistant Rezaul Karim confirmed the matter.
The court also instructed the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Chittagong Range, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chittagong District, and the officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandnaish thana to implement the order.
On April 30, an arrest warrant was issued against Jasim Uddin and his wife after they received a five-month detention in a case concerning Tk 890 million loan default with Padma Bank.
Case records reveal that Jasim Uddin, head of Jessica Trade International, took a Tk 600 million loan from Padma Bank's Khatunganj branch in 2016, with an agreement to repay within a year, which he failed to do.
