Monday, 12 May 2014

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has issued a warrant of arrest against former Jatiya Party (JP) leader Abdul Jabbar. The ICT-1 headed by Justice M Enayetur Rahim took war crimes charges against Jabbar into cognisance and issued the order on Monday. The order was issued following a plea by the prosecution. The tribunal expressed dissatisfaction over lack of progress when warrants of arrest were issued previously against others. The prosecution on Sunday pressed charges for war crimes including genocide against the former JP MP. Jabbar has been charged with five types of crimes against humanity during Bangladesh’s Liberation War. Investigations into his alleged crimes started on May 19 last year. Investigation officer Helal Uddin submitted the probe report on Apr 29, according to bdnews24.com.
