Arrest warrant for Izharul

A Chittagong court on Thursday issued a warrant of arrest against Mufti Izharul Islam Chowdhury in a case filed over a bomb blast at a madrasa in the port city about 6 months ago which killed three people. The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court issued the warrant of arrest for Mufti Izharul who was not present in the court during proceedings in the case today. Meanwhile, the bail Izharul secured from the High Court expired on March 25. After issuing the arrest warrant against Izharul, the court later fixed June 4 for framing charge against the nine accused including Izharul and his son Harun Bin Izhar in the case. Police pressed charges against the accused on February 10. On October 7 last year, an explosion took place at a dormitory of Al Jamiatul Ulum Al Islamia Madrasa in the port city, leaving three people dead. Mufti Izharul was the founder and principal of the madrasa. A case was filed against 12 people under the explosives act following the blast and two more cases were field – one for killing and the other for preserving acid in the at Lalkhan Bazar madrasa, according to a news agency.
