Arrest warrant for Kader Siddiqui
Tuesday, 11 November 2014
A Dhaka court on Tuesday issued arrest warrant for Bangladesh Krishak Shramik Janata League (BKSJL) President Abdul Kader Siddiqui in a defamation suit. General Secretary Ruhul Amin Majumder of National Freedom Fighters’ Foundation, an organisation for the welfare of freedom fighters, filed libel case on February 19 last year after Kader Siddiqui had called former home minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir ‘Razakar’, or a collaborator of the Pakistani occupation forces. Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh issued the warrant this (Tuesday) afternoon and set December 11 for submission of a report on the execution of his orders. Lawyer Mahbub Hasan Rana said the warrant was issued due to KSJL president’s failure to appear in court on the scheduled day. The magistrate has also issued a show cause to the case’s plaintiff for not showing up at court, according to a news agency.
