Sunday, 3 August 2014
A court in Feni on Sunday issued a warrant for the arrest of local BNP leader Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury Minar, the prime accused in Fulgazi Upazila Parishad chairman Ekramul Haque murder case. Acting Judge of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Alamgir Muhammad Faruque passed the order as Minar did not surrender before the court in the stipulated time in compliance with a Supreme Court order. On July 20, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court stayed the bail granted by the High Court to Minar and asked him to surrender before the trial court within next two weeks. On July 17, Minar was freed from jail after an HC bench granted bail to him on health grounds on July 15, according to UNB.
