ASA to distribute Tk 26.0b loan during July-Dec period

Association for Social Advancement (ASA) distributed TK 25 billion (2500 crore) as loan among 3.3 million borrowers during January-June '07 period and will disburse TK 26 billion (2600 crore) among 3.5 million members during July-December '07 period.
It was disclosed at the half yearly co-ordination meeting on ASA loan programmes held Saturday and Sunday at ASA Tower Conference Hall in the city. ASA President Md Shafiqual Haque Choudhury inaugurated the meeting.
ASA president stressed the need of innovating new strategies to maintain the success of ASA credit programmes. He gave directives to the senior officials to provide proper training to field-level officers to make them more efficient.
The present loan recovery rate of ASA is 99.82 per cent. Discussions during the two-day meeting concentrated on loan management, saving, default problem, infrastructure, training, automation etc. High officials of ASA central office and the zonal managers participated in the co-ordination meeting.
