Ashraf, Nanak escape road accident unhurt

TANGAIL, July 22 (BSS): LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, state minister for the same ministry Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Whip Mirza Azam escaped unhurt a road accident here today.
However, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of LGRD and Cooperatives Abdul Malek and five central Jubo League leaders were injured, one of them seriously, in the accident, police said.
They said the accident took place at Shubhallyapur of Mirzapur upazila when a police- escorted vehicle of the LGRD minister lost grip on a slippery road due to rain and other vehicles in the row collided with one another. Injured Jubo League leaders are Sajjad Shahin, Monjurul Alam Shahin, Ataur Rahman, Mahbubur Rahman Hiron and Enayet Kabir Chanchal.
Sajjad Shahin broke his left arm in the accident while other leaders received injuries in their legs and heads. The injured persons were first given first aid at Kumudini Medical College Hospital and then shifted to Square Hospital in Dhaka, Jubo League sources said.
Syed Ashraf, Nanak and Azam, travelling in separate transports, were unhurt and left for Rajshahi to attend official and party programmes.
