Ashraful to be AL spokesperson

In a significant party manouevre, Awami League (AL) chief Sheikh Hasina announced Saturday that its Acting General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam would take up the post of party spokesman, reports bdnews24.com.
Hasina announced the news to reporters midway through a meeting of the party's central working committee at her political office in the city. "Syed Ashraful Islam will take over as the party spokesman, having acted as general secretary of the party so far."
Ashraful took over as the acting general secretary of Awami League after Obaidul Quader was arrested in 2007.
