Asia-Pacific army seminar begins in city

A four-day long Asia-Pacific Armies Management Seminar (PAMS) began at a city hotel on Sunday. PAMS has been held throughout the Asia Pacific region since 1978. Top Army officers and security officials from 23 countries in the Asia, Pacific and Indian Ocean region will attend the 34 version of Pacific Armies Management meet. The 34th PAMS is co-hosted by the Bangladesh Army and the US Army, Pacific, with the theme ‘A new focus on the Asia-Pacific region: Opportunities and challenges for land forces’. General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan, Chief of Bangladesh Army, and Vincent Brooks, Commanding General of US Army, delivered welcome speeches in the opening session in the morning, according to a news agency.
