Ask banks to maintain good ties with clients

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) Thursday advised the central bank to instruct all the commercial banks for maintaining relationship with their clients neutrally, official sources said.
The Bangladesh Bank will is expected to issue a circular to the commercial banks soon in this connection, source added.
The Ministry of Finance earlier observed that commercials banks did not abide by standard banking rules while dealing with many business houses because of the ongoing anti-corruption drive.
As far as the Ministry of Finance is concerned, the commercial banks should not take into consideration any corruption charges or criminal offences against directors, shareholders or owners while maintaining their relationship with the companies.
According to sources concerned, it was part of the duties of the Ministry of Finance to safeguard the industries and employment to sustain the pace of economic activities.
