The US-China ties already strained for various reasons is worsening further. President Obama telephoned President Hu Jintao of China and warned him that Beijing is emboldening its "unruly" neighbour by not challenging its behaviour. In a frank 30-minute discussion on Sunday evening Obama urged China to put North Korea on a tighter leash. President Obama told President Jaintao that it is important for North Korea to understand that its actions would have consequences including relations with China, the New York Times in a front page report said today.
In another area of conflict Obama administration has accused Syria of arming Hezbollah with sophisticated weapons despite President Bashar al-Asad's assurance that it would not do so.
