Assault on JU teacher protested

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, May 10, 2015 (BSS): The students of Journalism and Media Studies department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) today protested the assault on its teacher by a police personnel last night in the city.
Protesting the incidents the students of the department made a blockade on Dhaka-Aricha highway road at 12.30 pm.
The agitating students of the university demanded exemplary punishment of the accused police personnel.
Later, at 3.00 pm JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam told the students that the police authority already suspended the responsible police sergeant and formed probe body over yesterday's assault on teacher and urged them to withdraw the blockade.
Responding to the VC's call, the students withdrew the blockade at about 3.00 pm.
Besides, the JU Teachers' Association also condemned the incident and announced to form a human chain tomorrow protesting the teacher's assault by police sergeant.
