Athletics eyes two gold medals in SA Games

Athletics team eyes for clinching two gold medals in the 11th SA Games to be held in Dhaka on January 29- February 9, reports UNB.
Addressing at a press conference today (Sunday) at the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA), Athletics Federation general secretary Shah Alam said they are also hopeful of getting 10 medals in different events including three silvers and five bronzes in 100 metre hurdles, high jump and 4x100 metre relay in the competition.
Performance of Athletes will be further improved as they are still undergoing training, he said.
The competition will be held in 23 events -- 15 of men's and 8 of women's -- in the SA Games with Bangladesh taking part in all the events.
However, Athletics team might miss the service of fastest woman Nazmun Nahar Beauty in the Games who is injured.
A 38-member Bangladesh Athletics team was also announced during the press conference.
The team includes Afzal Hossain, Asadul Islam, Dipankar Roy, Azharul Islam, Firoz Khan, Golam Mortaza, Golam Moula, Abdur Rahman, Al-Amin, Aminul Islam, Aulad Hossain, Azharul Islam, Firoz Sarkar, Imran Bhuiyan, Junayed Biswas, Kabirul Islam, Kholilur Rahman, Mahbubur Rahman, Mijanur Rahman, Masudul Karim, Shaheen Islam, Shahidul Islam, Shaheen Alam, Sajib Hossain, Tuhin Hossain, Obaidur Rahman, Fouzia Huda Jui, Jesmin Akter, Khurshida Khatun, Mossamat Israt Jahan, Nazmun Nahar Beauty, Noor Jahan Mallik, Rowshan Ara, Sathi Parveen, Shamsunahar Chumki, Shapla Khatun and Sumita Rani.
