Atiqul, Haji Selim, Taposh collect AL nomination forms

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Wednesday collected nomination paper from the Awami League to fight for the mayoral post in the upcoming elections to the city corporation.
Apart, Dhaka-10 lawmaker Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh and Dhaka-07 lawmaker Haji Md Selim also collected nomination forms from the Awami League president's office the same day to run the mayoral race in the polls to the Dhaka South City Corporation.
Mayor Atiqul's personal secretary Saifuddin Emon and brother Abu Mahmud Khan collected the nomination paper on behalf of him at 3:00 PM.
Dhaka South Awami League former organising secretary Morshed Kamal collected the form on behalf of Barrister Taposh while Haji Selim's personal secretary Mohiuddin Ahmed Belal bought the form for him.
Local Awami League leader Nazmul Haque also collected nomination form for mayoral candidacy.
Eight aspirants on Wednesday collected nomination papers from the Awami League president's office for the city corporation polls to be held on January 30, 2020.
Another candidate who collected form for the DSCC mayoral race was former Muktijoddha Sangsad secretary general MA Rashid.
Shamsuzzaman Babul collected the form on behalf of Mr Babul.
Other aspirants who collected nomination forms for the DNCC mayoral post are- Bangabandhu Foundation joint secretary Shahidullah Osmani, Bhasantek Thana unit Awami League vice president Major (Retd) Yad Ali Fakir and Professor Zaman Bhuiyan.
Sale of nomination papers will continue till the last Friday of this month.
Price of each form for the mayoral post is Tk 25,000.
The councillor hopefuls will collect nomination forms from the Election Commission office.
However, incumbent DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon is yet to collect the nomination form.
