The central bank will continue to extend its support to Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) for its initiative to create new entrepreneurs.
The assurance came on Wednesday when a delegation of the DCCI met the BB Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman after he was named the best central bank governor in the Asia Pacific region.
The DCCI delegation presented a bouquet to the BB Governor and discussed issues related to business.
"The Governor has assured us of providing continued support toward our Creating 2000 New Entrepreneurs programme," Vice President of DCCI Md Shoaib Choudhury told the FE after he met the governor at his office.
He said the DCCI took a programme for creating new entrepreneurs in 2013. The BB has a fund of Tk 1.0 billion for giving loans to the new entrepreneurs to start businesses.
At present, over 1500 new entrepreneurs have received the training under the programme. And out of them, over 100 have secured bank loans and started their businesses with 5-10 per cent interest rate.
Director of DCCI Muktar Hossain Chowdhury and Secretary AHM Rezaul Kabir, among others, were present.
