ATM Shamsuzzaman\\\'s son Kushol jailed for life

A Dhaka court on Sunday sentenced ATM Shamsuzzaman’s youngest son ATM Khalequzzaman Kushol to life imprisonment for killing his elder brother ATM Kamruzzaman Kabir 1-and-half-year ago. The court also fined him Tk 50,000 and he will have to suffer 1 year more rigorous imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine. Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 Judge Shahed Nur Uddin delivered the judgment. Mother and sister of both the murdered and the convict were present in the packed courtroom when the verdict was being pronounced. Renowned film actor ATM Shamsuzzaman passed away of old-age complexities earlier this year. Khalequzzaman Kushol stabbed Kamruzzaman Kabir to death at their house at 46, Debendranath Lane at Sutrapur in the city on March 13, 2012. Their father ATM Shamsuzzaman filed a murder case at Sutrapur Police Station the same day. The charge-sheet was submitted on June 25, 2012, showing 22 people as prosecution witnesses and the court framed the charges on December 12, according to UNB.
