Attack on Iran would be 'fatal mistake'

Sunday, 7 October 2007

WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (AFP): A top Iraqi government adviser admitted Friday that Iran was meddling in his country's affairs but warned that it would be a "fatal mistake" to launch military action against Iran.
"Iran is meddling into our internal affairs and other neighbours, too," Iraqi national security adviser Muaffak al-Rubaie told reporters here.
"Our neighbours are playing a very negative role," he pointed out. But Rubaie said that "it would be a fatal mistake to attack Iran."
"The whole area would be in pain and whatever gains we've had in the past four years would go down," he warned.
