Attack on musollis: Thousands stage demo in B’baria

Thousands of Muslim devotees staged demonstrations in Brahmanbaria sadar on Friday in protest against Thursday’s attack on madrasah teachers and students and members of Tabligh Jamaat by miscreants in a local mosque. Miscreants swooped on the madrasah teachers-students and Tabligh Jamaat men in Nazirabari Mosque at Char Islampur village of Bijoynagar upazila after Maghrib prayers on Thursday over an anti-Islam comment posted on social networking site Facebook. Over the issue, several thousands Muslims from different mosques and madrasahs brought out a protest procession from Tenkerpar field in the town after Juma prayers today. The procession parading different streets ended at Kawtali intersection. Later, a protest rally was held at the intersection where Islamic scholars spoke. Meanwhile, police arrested 17 people for their alleged involvement in the mosque attack, according to UNB.
