Attacks on religious minorities condemned

Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Socialist Party of Bangladesh (SPB) on Saturday organised marches and rallies at different parts of the capital in protest against the recent communal attacks on minorities, reports UNB.
Addressing the rallies at Paltan, Mohammadpur Krishi Market and Mirpur 10 Intersection, CPB and SPB leaders called for ideological, social and cultural fight against communal forces in the country.
They urged all the pro-liberation forces of the country to form committees to resist communalism at every locality.
They also demanded the government immediately ban the politics of communal, anti-liberation forces like Jamaat-Shibir to move towards the fulfillment of the dream of a secular Bangladesh as dreamt by people during the Liberation War in 1971.
The left leaders also slammed the government and the Election Commission for their failure to protect the people of minority communities from communal attacks.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Council for Human Right in Bangladesh-(CCHRB) on Saturday condemned the attack on minorities saying that attack and repression on the people of the minority communities is violation of human rights.
In a statement, CCHRB President AHM Nouman and its Treasurer SK Arif Ahmed said it is regretful that more than 568 educational institutions and a large number of houses, business establishments, temple and churches were vandalised and looted in recent attacks.
At present people of minority communities have been passing their days amid insecurity, they said.
They expressed hope that the newly formed government will take measures for ensuring security of the minorities and trial of the culprits in a speedy trial tribunal.
