Attempt to immolate a labour

An attempt has been made to immolate a day-labourer after pouring petrol on him. The incident took place on Saturday midnight at Uttarpara village in Khanjanpur area in Joypurhat municipality. Police later rescued severely burnt Sunil from nearby ground and admitted him to Joypurhat Modern Hospital. Upper portion of his body was completely burnt. OC of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Abdur Rashid said, “This may be a case of revenge attack to settle an old score.” Sunil’s family members said that Saturday night, miscreants lured him to the field where they poured petrol on him and set him on fire. After hearing Sunil’s screams, locals rescued him and sent him to the hospital. His body and two hands were severely burnt, according to bdnews24.com.
