Tuesday, 30 December 2014

An attempt to murder case was filed with a Dhaka court Monday against former State Minister for Housing and Public Works Abdul Mannan Khan, reports UNB.
AB Siddiqui, president of pro-Awami League (AL) Jananetri Parishad, filed the case with the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Nazmun Nahar Nipu in the morning.
Taking cognisance of the charge, the court asked the officer-in-charge (OC) of Dohar Police Station to submit a report by January 20 after investigation.
Ten people, including Advocate Salma Islam MP, have been made witnesses in the case.
According to the case statement, a group of 40-50 people, led by Mr Khan, swooped on a Victory Day programme on the Joypara Pilot High School ground on December 16.
Equipped with locally made weapons, they vandalised the podium, and tore off the banner with the portrait of Bangabandhu and stomped it in the presence of Salma Islam.
As the plaintiff tried to resist them, they hit him in the head with a motive to kill him, and took away his wristwatch and chain, he alleged.
They also manhandled Dohar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M Nurul Kabir Bhuiyan and hurled abuse at him.
It was also alleged that the former state minister threatened to kill them if any case is filed in this regard.
