Attracting FDI
Thursday, 17 September 2020
When Bangladesh is seeking foreign direct investment (FDI), Japan has planned to relocate its industries from China to countries like Bangladesh and India. We know, India is ahead in 'ease of doing business index'. Despite such challenges, Bangladesh has strong prospect of attracting FDI, including grabbing the share of planned Japanese relocation. Many countries want to invest in Bangladesh which, however, has one of the lowest inflows of FDI in Asia.
It's time for Bangladesh to take stock of the situation and formulate policies based on ground realities and demands of the investors. Authorities should try to earninvestors' credibilitythrough creating an investment-friendly legal regime by making sure that policies are translated into reality.
