Attracting foreign tourists

Tuesday, 23 April 2024

Attracting foreign tourists remains a challenge for Bangladesh. And that is due to various factors including security concerns and inadequate infrastructure support. Additionally, the country faces significant revenue loss as Bangladeshis often choose to vacation abroad. However, recent government initiatives have made strides in improving connectivity and reducing travel times. To further stimulate tourism, authorities need to focus on effectively branding Bangladesh to appeal to tourists.
Establishing separate facilities for foreign visitors at tourist destinations can mitigate harassment and exploitation, ultimately benefiting both the economy and local communities by creating more job opportunities. Despite boasting attractions such as the world's longest beach and unique mangrove forests, Bangladesh falls behind neighbouring countries in terms of tourist arrivals. It is, therefore, imperative for authorities to address these challenges and harness the country's tourism potential.
