SYDNEY, Dec 22 (AFP): Australian World Cup defender Craig Moore has been given medical clearance to continue playing after undergoing testicular cancer surgery last month, his Queensland Roar club said Monday.
The 33-year-old former Glasgow Rangers defender had surgery in Brisbane on November 11 to remove a testicle six weeks ago after the discovery of a lump.
Moore met with his oncologist Monday and was informed that he would not immediately require further treatment and was given the all-clear to continue training and playing, a club spokesman said in a statement.
The statement said doctors would continue to monitor Moore's recovery over the coming months to ensure his ongoing health.
Moore this year returned from international retirement for the Socceroos' 2010 World Cup qualification campaign.
Australia are unbeaten after three games and lead Asia Group A qualifying ahead of their key match with regional rivals, Japan, in Yokohama on February 11.
