Aussie striker Milicic heads for Malaysia

Sunday, 9 December 2007

SYDNEY, Dec 8 (AFP): Australian striker Ante Milicic is heading to Malaysian Premier League club Shahzan Muda FC and has had his A-League contract with Queensland Roar terminated by mutual consent, the club said Saturday.
Milicic, 33, has had limited playing opportunities this season and will leave for Malaysia Saturday, ready for the start of the Malaysian season on December 17, the Roar said in a statement.
"It wasn't quite happening for me at Queensland Roar this season but these things happen in football," Milicic said.
"When you look at the system the team plays and take my age into consideration, plus the progress of the young players here, my chances of playing are somewhat limited.
"I've got a chance of going somewhere I've been before and I've a good relationship with the people in Malaysia.
"This opportunity came out of the blue and whilst I would have liked to have achieved more than I have here in Queensland, that's the way football works sometimes."
