Aussies to play Pakistan in UAE

Wednesday, 4 March 2009

Australia's one-day series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates will go ahead as planned despite Tuesday's terror attack in Lahore, BBC reports.

Security will be stepped up following the attack on the Sri Lanka team bus which left seven players injured and five policeman dead.

Australia refused to tour Pakistan last year because of security concerns.

Meanwhile Indian Premier League commissioner Lalit Modi says April's tournament will not be affected.

The ICC are set to give their reaction to events in a news conference scheduled for 1400 GMT.

Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat has also confirmed a decision on Pakistan's involvement in staging World Cup matches in 2011 will also be made "within 48 hours."

The eight-team IPL event is scheduled to begin on April 10 at nine venues across India, and features major players from all the Test-playing countries except Pakistan.
