Australia provides funds to support for arsenic-free drinking water, sanitation

The Australian High Commission has announced granting Tk 1.4 million under its Direct Aid Programme (DAP) 2008-09 to two non-government organisations (NGOs) of Bangladesh: Society for People's Actions in Change and Equity (SPACE) and Jono Sheba Kendra (JSK), said a press release.
Australian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Douglas Foskett handed over the cheques to Azhar Ali Pramanik, executive director of SPACE and Nasreen Sultana, executive director of JSK in the city recently.
The SPACE will spend its share of Tk 0.7 million to provide arsenic-free safe drinking water to families of three villages in Manikganj through low cost and non chemical-based water treatment.
The JSK has received a total of Tk 0.69 million to provide hygienic sanitation facilities in five schools in Raipur Upazilla of Lakshmipur district. Along with providing sanitation facilities.
